Demise anniversary of Zarathushtra in Kerman


Armita Farahmand:  5th Dey, equal to Khor Izad Day of the month of Dey, the commemoration ceremony on the demise anniversary of Zarathushtra was held in Kerman Fire Temple, in the presence of a large number of Kermani Zoroastrians.
In this ceremony, which is called “Zarathushtra’s Gahanbar”,  Mobeds Fereidoon Hormozdi, Mehran Gheibi, Hooman Fravahari and Farhang Falahati prayed the gahanbar prayers.  When the prayers ended the participants were entertained with ‘ash’ (traditional soup) and ‘sirog’ (fried bread) and some other traditional dishes.
‘Lork’ (dried fruit and nuts) and ‘kulu’ (bread, roasted meat, legumes) was also distributed among the participants.
This gahanbar is of the ‘touji’ type (a non-regular gahanbar that is prayed outside the 6 chahreh of gahanbars), and according to Kerman Zoroastrian Anjuman, Kermani Zoroastrian contributed 3 million tomans to this gahanbar.
Every year, many Kermani Zoroastrians cooperate in the preparations for “Zarathushtra’s gahanbar”.
