TEHRAN (Amordadnews): “I request Esfandiar Ekhtiari, the Zoroastrian MP, Director of Tehran Zoroastrian Anjuman and the Mobed Association to hang Zarathushtra’s portrait, and a tableau with the word “Good thoughts, good words, good deeds” on the walls of Anushirvan Hall, as a sign of its Zoroastrian ownership.”
Tooran Bahrami, the Zoroastrian lady poet, added: “In Zoroastrian religion equality of men and women is very important and this is a source of pride and honor for Zoroastrians.”
Esfandiar Ekhtiari also participated in the gahanbar ceremony, which was held at 9 am, in the hall of Anushirvan Girls High School. He spoke about the WZC, which was held in Dubai, and said: “Language is not the only difference between Iranian Zoroastrians and Parsis.”
He continued: “One of the most basic programs that we should pursue in future is to have communication in which there should be dialogue and critique.”
Ekhtiari said: “We, Iranians, know the concept of the language and culture of our country and those who have gone from their motherland long back do not have understanding about our country as we do.”
He continued: “Being a Zoroastrian means to be together, preserve our customs and stay united.”
Referring to the winning of Iranian youth in the Congress, he said: “Despite limited facilities our youth succeeded in standing first, which is proof of the intelligence and talents of our youth.”
Regarding the Congress panel, in which Iran was not member upto now, he said: “From now onwards Iran will also have membership in the panel.”
Regarding the meeting between Iranian youth and the youth of other countries, in which it was decided to have multilateral relationship, he said: “Our youth wish to live in a prosperous and free world, in peace and unity.”
Mobed Pedram Soroushpour also delivered a speech about the science of morale. He believed that the most important law of this science is freedom and free will, on which the Zoroastrian religion is based.”
He added: “Zarathushtra did not dictate to man about what to do, instead he said that one should think. The basic point is in being aware, not good or wrong deeds. That part of our thought which guides us in choosing the righteous path is dena or conscience. In Zoroastrian religion honesty is very important and under no condition one should lie.”
Referring to the roots of Zoroastrian morale, which is the Amshaspand, Soroushpour explained about the relation between the Amshaspand and the science of morale.
The prayers in this gahanbar were recited by Mobeds Ardeshir Manekchian and Farzad Lohrasb.
The participants were entertained with ‘ash’ and traditional bread, which was contributed by Farnoosh Kadkhodayan, the wife of the late Esfandiar Bahram Kadkhodayan, and his children Shayan and Shnaya.
