Zoroastrian Parsees are implementing a project on assisting eye patients all over the world

Amordad correspondent, Ashkan Khosrowpour:  It is some time that two Parsee physicians are voluntarily offering free service to eye patients.
Behram Pastakia, Zoroastrian physician and UN representative, and Shahnaz Tarapore, another Zoroastrian physicians, in a joint project, are assisting those patients who cannot afford expenses like physician fees, or purchase of eyeglasses or eye surgery.
Africa, under-privileged areas in India and Asia are places where the Eyesight Operation project is being implemented.
Tarapore, who has had many trips to India, said:  “In an advertisement we have requested the people to send us their glass frames, in order to provide to the needy.  You may not believe that there are many in this world who cannot afford to even buy a pair of eyeglasses.”
Pastakia, who knows the Persian language to some extent, proposed to the Amordad correspondent, in an interview:  It would be ideal if the Iranians, Afghans, Tajiks and those living in the Iranian plateau, celebrate Nowrooz together.  This means unity (hamazoori), it means being together, a beautiful and memorable occasion.
