Renovation of the ceiling of Pir-e Sabz Shrine started

Farzad Shahriyarifar:  The Renovation Committee has started renovation of the ceiling of Pir-e Sabz Shrine.
After the new stairway to the shrine was nearing its final stage, the Renovation Committee decided to renovate the Shrine.  As the work started and while repairing part of the wall coating, severe rot and decay of the ironware used in the beams and the pillars appeared.
After a visit of the site by the Committee members, necessary decisions were made to have an overall repair of the Shrine, in the last meeting of the Committee.
The first step taken is tearing down the arched roof of the east part which will finish by the end of this week.  According to the decisions of the Committee, the ceiling will be destroyed completely and only the main and subordinate beams will remain, which will be cleaned of rust and coated with suitable material.
It is planned that in the next stage, the sloping and insulation of the roof will be done.  It is to be noted that due to insufficient sloping and insulation of the roof and also lack of regular checking, the sever corrosion of the beams, pillars and iron hitches in the shrine happened.
