TEHRAN (Amordadnews): Cultural Heritage News (CHN) had an interview, today, with Tooran Shahriyari, the Zoroastrian poet, about Iranian festivals, i.e., Sadeh, Shab-e Chelleh and the Gahanbars.
In part of this interview, which was held under the title “Ancient feasts, the spiritual heritage of Iran”, Tooran Shahriyari explained:  “In ancient Iran there were 24 festivals in a year.  12 of them were celebrated when the name of the day and month are same.  In addition, on the 5th day of each month a special ceremony was performed.
She continued:  “Besides these festivals, Iranians had four major festivals:  Nowrooz, birthday of Zarathushtra, shab-e Chelleh (Yalda) and Sadeh, which are being celebrated by all Iranians upto this day.
All these festivals deserve to be registered in the list of spiritual heritage as a part of the ancient culture and tradition of Iranians.”
Upto now, from among these festivals Nowrooz and Yalda have been registered in the list of spiritual heritage of Iran, and in addition to including them in the official calendar, they are celebrated by all Iranians and respected as a culture inherited from ancient times.
