Azarmidokht inscription will be added to the list of national heritage

TEHRAN (Amordadnews): The Sassanian inscription belonging to Azarmidokht is waiting to go into the list of national heritage of Iran. This stone inscription was created in a large cave, next to a ‘dukhma’ (tower of silence), according to Sassanian customs.
As believed by archeologists this inscription and dukhma are signs of the importance of this area in the Sassanian period. The history of the dukhma and the inscription are connected; the inscription was created after death of Azarmidokht.
According to Jahanmir Estakhri, an archeological expert, this inscription can give valuable historic and technical information regarding burying of the dead in the Sassanian period.
The Sassanian epigraph of Azarmidokht was found in the arduous mountains of Kamhar Country, in Sepidan District of Fars Province.
