Farangis Shahrokh (Yeganegi), the founder of Yeganegi Library, died on 13 February in Los Angeles

TEHRAN (Amordadnews):  Farangis Shahrokh (Yeganegi) the founder of Yeganegi Library and a prominent Zoroastrian personality, left the world.
Farangis Shahrokh (Yeganegi) who lived for over 90 years, and was a pioneer in cultural and philanthropic activities for the Zoroastrian society, died in Los Angeles on 13 February.
Her son, Kambiz, informed that her ‘porseh’ (commemoration service) will be held in Iraj Hall, Tehran, on 19 February.
Farangis was born of Arbab Kaykhosrow Shahrokh and Firoozeh Farrahi on 12 May 1916.  She started her education in Iraj Zoroastrian School and studied there until the 9th grade.  She continued her education in Sage College, Tehran.  Her university education was in Persian and English literature.  She graduated from Tehran University in this field.  She then continued her studies in Social Work, in USC University, California.
She married Ardeshir Yeganegi and from this marriage two sons and one daughter were born by the names of Firoozeh, Parviz and Kambiz.
Farangis was the honorary President of Zoroastrian Women Organization, the first Executive Director of Iranian Handicraft Organization, member and Director of South California Zoroastrian Center, and founder of Yeganegi-Kaykhosrow Shahrokh Library.  She rendered invaluable services to the Iranian society and specifically to the Zoroastrian community, among them the printing of books related to the culture and civilization of Iran.
She was also one of the founders of the Anjuman of Ancient Iranian Culture and took important steps in improving the state of women in prisons.
Amordad conveys its condolences to the Zoroastrian community and her reverend family, and wishes eternal paradise for this great lady of our time.
