TEHRAN (Amordadnews):  On the auspicious occasion of 29 Bahman, Esfandgan festival, in a message starting with greeting on occasion of Woman’s Day in Iranian culture, Mobed Association added that Esfandgan is a day for boys and fathers to express their love and appreciation towards girls and mothers and should not be called the day of love for Iranians because love and affection has a much larger scope and mothers and girls can also express their love and appreciation to the men in the house on the day that is called the Father’s Day.
Herebelow is the complete text of the message of Tehran Mobed Association:
Tribute to the glory of Ashu Zarathushtra Spitaman and all religious and conscientious people, lovers of Iranian culture and all who have good thoughts, words and deeds, and have strived in safeguarding the morale and cultural values of this divine land.
Congratulations to all the wise and learned Zoroastrian ladies on occasion of Sepandarmazd of the month of Sepandarmazd, the day for commemorating the role and rank of woman, especially mother.
It is due to the fact that Zoroastrians are followers of the most important teachings of Zarathushtra, faith in human and morale principles, that they are called the founders of religion and culture, and every Zoroastrian, all through history, has known it his duty, by leaning to his never ending power of wisdom and with a clear conscience, to keep to his human morale and act accordingly and do not get diverted from the path of righteousness (Ashu) and goodness (Vohuman).
One of the most salient principles of the Zoroastrian religion, which is the foundation of culture in Iran, is to believe in equality of the rights of all human beings, including man and woman.  Therefore, from long back, this auspicious day has been called the day for commemorating the role of mother and woman.  On this day, the men in the house would make their wives sit on the highest seat in the house and by presenting valuable gifts, which especially had spiritual value, express their appreciation and love to their dearest members of the family.  On this day the ladies would not work and the men would do all the housework, in order to recognize, acknowledge and appreciate the huge responsibilities that the ladies had in the house.
There is no doubt that this day is a day for boys and fathers to express their love and appreciation towards girls and mothers and should not be called the day of love for Iranians because love and affection has a much larger scope and mothers and girls can also express their love and appreciation to the men in the house on the day that is called the Father’s Day.  Expressing their love for the one and only God (Ahura Mazda), their creator, and his creation, the four elements of nature, was the duty of every Zoroastrian.  With view to the above, the day of love for Iranians is Mehregan festival.  Mehr Izad In Avesta, owns boundless plains and makes the wise and conscientious human beings love the whole world, keep to their oaths and the bonds of love and friendship.
We hope that all Zoroastrians are duty bound to their cultural roots, which is one of the most human and valuable cultures of the world.  Under protection of Ahura Mazda, the self-contained.
Glory be to Esfandgan festival, Mother’s
Day
and commemoration of the role of mother.
We wish health and righteousness for all women on earth.
May love rule and righteousness win.
Mobed Association
